it 2 Superheroes inspiring new generationsSince the launch of the Most Influential Women in Tech awards by Computer Weekly in 2012, hundreds of women have been recognised for their contribution to the thriving technology sector.

This year’s longlist features 200 who are all champions in their respective fields within tech – and who will all compete to be named in the top 50.

We take a look at five of the coolest candidates inspiring the next generation of female pioneers in the information and technology sector.

 

Alexa Marenghi

As the global diversity and business programme manager for Microsoft and founder of Codess – a community for only female coders – Alexa is driven by her passion for gender inclusivity and diversity in the tech engineering field.

Since 2013 Codess has inspired women to achieve their professional goals in the typically male-dominated world of coding, while providing a safe and nurturing environment for them.

  1. Not to be confused with AI Alexa, as in: “Alexa, please set my s1jobs alert!”

 

Harriet Green OBE

As the current Chair and CEO of IBM Asia Pacific, Harriet is already a celebrated businesswoman in the world of global technology, with a long and illustrious CV.

Her track record in technology has led to numerous awards, including the Women in Technology Institute Award and an OBE for services to electronics.

 

Tamara Lohan MBE

Another Royally-approved tech entrepreneur, Tamara is the cofounder and CTO of Mr and Mrs Smith, a company specialising in boutique hotel travel.

A strategist with a marketing background, she is the brains behind the technological infrastructure of the company – everything from websites to booking engines and ios Apps.

 

Lisa Hammond

Cofounder and CEO of Centrix Software – a software company that provides workplace computing solutions – Lisa is not only educated in physics and electronic engineering but graduated from Harvard Business School.

Lisa has been responsible for more than doubling the revenue of Centrix Software since its creation in 2008.

 

June Angelides

As founder and CEO of Mums in Technology – the first child-friendly coding school in the UK – June is passionate about getting more mothers in to the tech industry and ensuring coding is accessible to all.

Since founding Mums in Tech in 2015, she has seen her business thrive and it continues to attract worldwide attention.
